During my pregnancy, my mare often pressed her huge ear against my belly and neighed softly – but one day she suddenly struck me hard with her muzzle, and later I discovered something terrible

We had our own farm, where my husband and I grew fruits and vegetables and cared for cows, chickens, pigs, and sheep.

But our greatest treasure was our mare — intelligent, noble, and loyal. She wasn’t just a helper on the farm, but also a true friend, almost like a member of the family.

When I found out that I was pregnant and that we would have a son, the world around me changed. I began to notice that the mare was behaving in a special way.

She would come close, press her big ear against my belly as if she were listening. Sometimes she neighed quietly, as if laughing with joy, and gently touched me with her muzzle.

It seemed as though she knew more about the baby than I did myself. For all seven months of my pregnancy, she stayed by my side, protecting me, watching every step I took, and never leaving me alone.

But one day, everything changed. The mare suddenly became restless and aggressive. She pushed her muzzle against my belly, not hard, but unpleasantly. Frightened, I stepped back and cried out:

— “Ouch! What are you doing?”

But she didn’t stop. Again and again, her muzzle and teeth reached toward my belly, as if she were desperately trying to tell me something. Finally, she bit me — gently, but enough to make me gasp in fear.

I trembled. My first thought was dreadful: “Something has happened to the baby… The mare has hurt him.”

In panic, my husband and I rushed to the hospital. The doctors immediately began examinations. And what they discovered shocked everyone.  To be continued in the first comment

It turned out that our son was developing a severe heart defect. In previous checkups, this had not been noticed, and no one had suspected that the situation was critical.

But right then, only a few weeks before the birth, the baby’s condition began to worsen rapidly. If we hadn’t come in time, the consequences would have been tragic.

— “It’s a miracle you came today,” the doctor said. “We must save the baby immediately.”

And then I remembered the mare. Her strange behavior, her desperate attempts to get my attention… She had sensed what even the doctors could not see.

After many anxious days, tests, and treatments, we managed to save our baby’s life. When I came back home, the first thing I did was go to her, my faithful mare.

She stood there quietly, her head lowered, as if waiting for me. I hugged her neck and pressed my cheek against her warm coat:

— “Thank you, my girl. You saved my son.”

The mare neighed softly and placed her ear against my belly again, but this time gently and tenderly, as if she knew: the worst was already behind us.
